Stamp duty calculator FAQ
How much is stamp duty on a $600,000 investment property?
It depends on the state. Using each revenue office's general rates, it is about $15,720 in the ACT, $20,025 in Queensland, $21,187 in New South Wales, $22,498 in Tasmania, $22,515 in Western Australia, $26,830 in South Australia, $29,700 in the Northern Territory and $31,070 in Victoria.
Do investors pay more stamp duty than home buyers?

When do I pay stamp duty?
Usually at or before settlement, and it is generally due within a set time of signing the contract. Your conveyancer will arrange it.
Is stamp duty tax deductible on an investment property?
Generally no, it is not deducted each year. It usually forms part of the property's cost base for capital gains tax. Ask your accountant.
